Battle Pod Concept
A commission mecha design for a card game.
This was prescribed more as a piece of military equipment than a personalised battle suit, hence the conventional equipment and visible instruments.
| | | | | | | |
Armoured Suit Concept
Commission character design.
This concept was for a heavy soldier suit with attention to the large particle cannon.
| |
Raen Armour Concept
With her character concepted as a heavy female knight, Raen's armour has always been a feature point for design and refinement.
Drawing influences from Soul Calibur, Valkyrie Profile and Hokuto no Ken, I set out to design the armour around a heavy elaborate celestial warrior motif.
Apart from that, I just dig girls in armour.

IS-PTR1GA PATRIARCH
After drawing humanoid bipedal mecha for so long I wanted to explore some other design options and the first thing that came to mind was to put on more legs.
The PATRIARCH was put together quickly to see how much impact such a simple change would make to my usual design mindset. Although I didn't spend much time thinking about the individual components, they all came together well enough to distinguish it from my usual designs.

Sorceress Seles
Seles is the main character in my Magi project and has probably undergone more revision than any of the characters in the story.
Unlike most of the main characters, her outfits tend to be rather low key without some of the loud adornments seen on the others.
The "normal" village girl. Even if she is a witch.

KAIFTX1 FAUST
One of the early results of experimenting with posture and proportioning of humanoid mecha designs yielded the FAUST.
A skeletal mecha that skimpers around the battlefield with big guns.

Lance Knight Evelyn
A character created in Soul Calibur III's custom character feature.
This piece was more practice for my armour decorating and toning technique.

Heavy Artillery Mecha Concept
A commission in a series of mecha designs.
This one was rather simple in concept: a big walking tank packing serious firepower. Aside from the usual launchers and guns the main feature on this beast is the large overhead cannon. Otherwise he just sits there and shoots.
|
Light Finfoot Mecha Concept
A commission mecha
I thought I'd have a crack at a design which had no feet. I'd recently been looking at some Xenosaga and Five Star Stories designs so a bit of influence rubbed off from them. Having just completed a few detail heavy designs I decided for a more clean and sleek approach.

IS-PTR2SGA SENTINEL
The next generation of the PATRIARCH, most of the ideas I had for the SENTINEL had already been integrated into the heavy artillery mecha I'd done for an earlier commission, so I had to come up with some new ones to distinguish it.
I was always a fan of the overhead cannons from the Koenig Monster mecha from Macross so I had to give them a shot. The idea for the chest cannon was actually sparked from age old memories of the mutant soldiers in Wolfenstein-3D to which I decided to change from a handgun to a retractable long barrel machine gun.
Whilst I'd first intended it to be quadrupedal like its predecessor, I decided to fit in the large back skirt instead as I felt it gave a much heavier look.

XG08A AXIS
When I first started getting interested into anime, one of my major inspirations for mecha and female armour was Fei-Yen from Virtual On. Since then I've taken numerous shots at designing mecha armour that could still look feminine and cool without being cheesy.
The AXIS series of designs represents some of the oldest line of anime-influenced mecha living in my folio.

Aquatic Mecha Concept
Commission mecha design for card game.
Most mecha battle theatres tend to take place on land, sky or space. Rarely do we see machines duke it in the depths of the ocean and after seeing the Hygogg from Gundam 0080 kick major arse, I wanted have a crack at it myself.
This design has two modes, one for battle and one for cruising around as shown in the background. It also has no legs.

Strike Mecha Concept
A commission mecha design.
I approached this with the idea of a gruntish foot-soldier mecha and spent more time thinking of ways to make it look tough and rugged. I almost gave him a submachine gun but figured the visible hand was better posed.
Also comes with all-terrain stompy feet for those family trips out into the bushes.
